___ sat silently in the meeting room with other guys she met before minus Natasha, who was treating captured agent Barton, and Thor who was currently… somewhere and judging by the camera footage... Hopefully in better place. Rest in peace, Loki’s brother.

The atmosphere was gloomy at the best. Agents were clearing the bodies away for proper burial and everyone felt quilty for what happened. But what annoyed ____ was the fact that Loki got away.

But as she thought about the situation quietly she came to the conclusion that there was no point crying over spilt milk. Even though she was capable of smashing his skull she had no courage to actually do it. Only thing she wondered for future was if she should do it when the chance permitted or not. Or does she even go to him since he still partly had influence in her. Running away was the simplest answer.

Fury slowly walked to the room and threw deck of bloody cards in front of them on table. The dead agent carried them around apparently. This hurt Captain America deeply and caused a bit of bickering when Tony said that he was not soldier and taking death calmly wasn’t part of his resume.

Guys left away to think the next step but ____ remained on her seat and tapped the table with her finger like she was waiting time to go faster. “Is there something you wanted to add, miss ____?” Fury looked at her seriously. She shook her head. “What’s there to add? I’m… baffled by this whole mess to be honest.”

“If you have any thoughts, you have permission to address them,” Fury said and noticed agent Hill’s strong glare at him. She probably had something to say about the bloody cards on the table that weren’t really in the agent’s pocket.

___ looked at the table and decided to share her thoughts a bit. “…I’m simply trying to figure out Loki’s character a bit more. I’m trying to figure out the next step of his plans but all seem to be very weak…” she explained. “…He is very arrogant but I am very unsure how illogical decisions he is prepared to do.”

“So, what do you think he is going to do next? In theoretical level,” he tried to fish as much information off her as possible. She sighed and rolled her eyes. “I have no freaking idea…” she said and stood up and walked past them both. She needed to clear her mind and decide what to do at the moment.

She casually walked to the coffee machine and got another coffee. She sat down on the nearest bench next to wall and leaned her head back while closing her eyes. The mug in her hands was warm but not burning hot.

She wanted to finish the case and get Loki behind the bars but somehow, she knew that it wasn’t going to work. Loki was absolutely naïve man, the naivest man she had ever met. He was obliviate of the world around him and he was even air-headed when it came to his true goal. He was one kind of caveman that shouldn’t exist in this era and his behavior screamed it loud and clear.

But there was a lot of potential in him and it made probably the connection possible. She easily saw how much he could improve but he had no knowledge or experience of several matters that he obviously ignored as ‘unimportant’ he wouldn’t need. If he would be thrown to prison, his anger and hatred would grow even more and make him more blinded to his surroundings… which makes him more like unsafe grenade ready to explode any given minute and taking down more casualties that could have been saved.

Basically, he needed to be brainwashed and that risked him turning even bigger enemy than before. He was like misbehaving child that needed to be taught properly. It sounded impossible by this point after he had killed a lot of people. Americans had old attitude ‘eye for an eye’ so she should scrap her idea completely. No way they would let her have her own way.

She opened her eyes and took a sip of her lukewarm coffee. Was she pondering this that long? She didn’t even notice before now. She looked around herself and listened to the silence. She heard few steps rushing down the hallway and she turned to look at the direction.

It was Natasha who was preparing her guns as she rushed to her direction. “What is it?” __ asked and looked at her. “Loki is most likely going to hit the big apple next. Are you coming with us?”

____ froze for a moment but something in her heart told her to step forward. If Loki was doing massive attack to New York, people would be dying and if she could help any way possible to prevent it, it was all worth it. She drank all the coffee in one gulp and nodded her head.

*

_____ looked around the chaos as chitauris started their New York takeover with their leader. The Avengers had started their attack and her job was to make herself useful. Steve didn’t give her any orders around as he really had no idea what she was capable of and she seriously couldn’t blame the guy one bit. She didn’t have a habit to speak about her abilities in public.

She saw Steve giving orders to cops what prioritize first which was civilians. However, in this current battle zone there weren’t any safe heavens unless they managed to escape from the city which didn’t sound safe either.

“Look out!” she screamed once she saw one injured alien driving his flying vehicle towards captain America and ____ used her telepathic powers to push the vehicle in slightly different angle from behind so it wouldn’t fall on them but instead in safe distance away. The vehicle flew just above the guys but crashed few dozen meters away so no one was injured.

The two cops who looked at her like she was the wicked witch of the south or something and to be honest Steve’s expression wasn’t that much different.

“…Can you do that more?” Steve suddenly asked. “Absolutely!” she said without hesitation for once. She knew what she was doing and now was the moment to put them into good use. “You work with police and try to get trapped people safe,” Steve said. “Roger!” she said and looked at the two dumbfounded police officers who suddenly were making calls to their fellow officers. Steve rushed off and so did ____. She had now purpose she wanted for several years.

She saw two aliens approaching one ally where screams were heard. Why they decided to walk instead of fly, she had no idea but she had very good idea where they were going to go.

____ used her abilities in the distant to make the piercing weapon from the alien’s hand to pierce the other’s body. The aliens had no idea what was going on but she didn’t leave the last one alive so she focused her energy and pushed his head (presumably that all of the aliens were male?) against the hard wall. Gladly neither of them rose again and she rushed to the alley which had three teenage girls and two young boys who looked at her even worse way than the police did.

“Calm down all of you and listen what I’m going to say,” she approached them even closer which made the ones on front shiver even more. “Listen. You aren’t safe in here. The creatures above are so big that even skyscrapers can fall down any given time. You need to get out of Manhattan as fast as you can.” “But they are shooting in the streets, we can’t go out there!” one of the girls said but ___ remained calm. “Our A team is distracting them. Streets aren’t completely safe but if you move next to the buildings as fast as you can, you can be hella a lot safer than in here,” she explained and looked at the boys as well. “Stick together and go fast. Go now!”

The kids didn’t stand there to argue. One of the girls pointed the shortest route to the nearest bridge and they run off.

____ looked after them and soon started rushing to the next group of people who needed help.

The portal to other dimension was closed, army defeated and Loki tied like cartoon villain and was guarded by SWAT team of S.H.I.E.L.D as Avengers and very tired ____ ate some swarma in local small restaurant. No one said anything about any subjects at all. Everyone were silently eating.

“What is going to happen to Loki in Asgard?” ___ asked and bursted the bubble she was thinking. “That depends on All-father’s will. For now, he will be held as a prisoner for sure,” Thor said and noticed her concern… like did everyone else in the table. Even Clint raised an eyebrow for the question. “Why do you ask?” Clint asked.

“…I’m just curious of other options…” she whispered and drank some soda. She felt so embarrassed how everyone was looking at her. “I didn’t ask this because of recent events, I asked simply because…. I don’t think his punishment of being in a prison is working for him,” she continued and if someone wasn’t paying attention to her, then now they certainly were. “What do you have in mind?” Thor asked.

“I think he needs more time to learn his wrong ways rather than someone preaching them above. He doesn’t view other people anything else than hindrance and doesn’t even bother to listen to them because he thinks he knows better and others are simply below his level,” she explained analytically. “I think it would be… unwise to give him back to Asgard where he thinks himself as martyr for his cause and instead… let him stay here and learn his mistake himself…”

She could easily see some light that was coming to Thor’s eyes as he was getting excited by this. “But that’s a wonderful idea!” he smiled widely but Tony coughed a bit. “Except for the fact that he is narcissistic egomaniac. I don’t see him learning his lesson any better while sitting imprisonment in here or in Asgard. The result is the same.”

“Have you ever met real narcissistic person?” ____ turned her eyes on him. “Well there are few-“ he stuttered but she interrupted him. “Have you ever met real narcissistic person?” she repeated her question. Tony swallowed mouthful of food and continued. “…You should have met my former co-worker. Really wicked person.”

“Wickedness isn’t character trait of narcissistic,” ___ said calmly. “It is impossible for narcissistic person to admit he had something wrong. You might show actual pictures of that event but the person denies it to the end. He can be very manipulative when he wants to and believes that he is the most perfect creature god has ever created. Others are simply more broken ones.”

“Gods do not create people,” Thor said and took a mouthful of food but Bruce nodded at her point. “So, you are saying that Loki has something redeemable about himself?” Bruce asked and looked at her. ___ nodded. “I sense awareness in him… That… somehow, he knows what he does is digging his grave but doesn’t quite see it himself. What happens in his mind is really complicated but I see hope in there… as well as the possibility that whole idea of his brainwashing is having opposite reaction and soon we all have to call him ‘king’ or ‘his highness.’”

This caused a bit snickering from the Iron man but she had a point. It wasn’t risky free move. “…So how are we going to do it then if he is not supposed to be cuffed?” Clint asked and looked at the person who suggested it. “…I’m unsure. I think more of him as troublesome teenager in orphanage you know. But it would be byrocratic nightmare to arrange anything remotely similar.”

This brought up Tony an idea. “I have a suggestion but I need to confirm few things from Fury before I can say it. Just in case it is really bad idea of course,” he gave a slight smile that only made Thor’s smile brighter than before. “It pleases me to see that my brother’s future is secured. I had lost my hopes for him but now… I can wish for something better. Perhaps he would learn from the people he frowned down upon.”

____ did her best to ask about Asgard now that she had a chance and they had a genuine conversation about cultural differences of Midgard and Asgard. When they reached the subject of magic, Steve decided to join the conversation. “You are magic user too ___?” he asked and cleaned his hands to hand paper. She shrugged again as she usually did when the subject came to uncomfortable territory.

“No… or – I don’t know to be honest. I just know things and do things. The source of my abilities is complete mystery to me,” she admitted and looked at Natasha for a moment. Black widow’s gaze was calm but understanding.

“…I basically control objects and people like jedis do in the Star Wars…” she tried to explain something she had never explained before. “…I sense energy around and I can use that on people and several types of objects around. That’s why I went nuts because of the scepter back in the air ship because I can sense how it leashes out for people around it.”

“That’s why you tried to warn us,” Bruce now understood the situation better and how he lost the control so easily back then. It wasn’t sign of weakness, it was natural reaction if the scepter was creating the problem in the first place. She nodded and looked slightly more comfortable than before. “The blue part of the scepter is something I’ve never seen before. It almost reacts like it is alive and it harms those to appear emotionally stirred even by little bit.”

“So back then we were all affected by that magic?” Thor asked. “It really explains a lot…” Tony muttered and glared at Steve who coughed a bit. “You guys looked like you were all drunk,” Natasha said as she was the only one who was cool as a cucumber during the scene.

“So, are we Avengers now?” Tony asked and looked around everyone. “Guardians of this world.”

“It would be my pleasure and will to protect Midgard and its civilians,” Thor raised his glass and smiled. “Naturally I’m all in for this,” Tony smirked and thought the fun they were going to have. “…I might consider but I make no promises…” Bruce said and smiled for common courtesy. Clint was the one who scratched his own head and sighed hard. “…I know certain someone who isn’t going to jump in joy for this…” he mumbled. “Girlfriend?” Tony raised his head. “You can say so… I’m not going to be at home much.”

“What about you Natasha?” Bruce looked at her. She shrugged. “I don’t care to be honest. I already have to do errands for S.H.I.E.L.D so as long as Fury is fine with this, I’m could be in.”

Everyone looked at ___ who has been quiet on the question while drinking her favorite soda. “…Umm… so Avengers are not collar marked private soldiers for S.H.I.E.L.D?” she asked. “Because it suspiciously sounds like that they are. I’m still confirmed that my partnership with S.H.I.E.L.D has ended years ago, and to be honest, I still don’t want to work with them but I think you all know more why after the drama we have been going through.”

“Don’t you want to help people with your powers?” Thor asked and it was painful question. “Of course, but I don’t want to be ear marked either by people who have no idea what it’s like to be a freak,” she said coldly. “…But I hang around for a short while because I have anything going on with my life and I have no idea what direction I should be heading for. That much I can promise. At least I want to see Loki’s case to the end if it is possible.”

Several of them smiled but all of them understood what she was saying. The decision to start project Avenger could have serious issues ahead of it that no one was prepared for.

Fury had been quiet for long while even though Natasha had stood in the room for over 20 minutes. “…I suppose it’s better than nothing really. We have those would defend us in conflict but I’m not that convinced that Stark’s plan is going to work even if he guaranteed maximum surveillance on Loki in the Stark tower,” Fury said as he was gazing to the night out of the window.

“Avenger’s tower. He renamed it recently,” Natasha gave a sly smile as she corrected him. “And to add surveillance and safety, we will be living together in there soon.”

“Did ___ agreed to join the project as well?” Fury turned to look at Natasha. “Yes and no. She is very hesitant and has trust issues with S.H.I.E.L.D. She moves to the tower though like the rest of us and works for us now… but it’s too early to say if she quits soon like before,” Natasha’s tone was calm even though she spoke of a person she liked.

Fury nodded a bit. “I want you to keep an eye for her. We have no idea if Loki’s hypnosis still affects her and she was the person who created this arrangement for Loki in the first place. We can’t risk that Loki might gain his freedom by ill means.” “Understood,” Natasha said calmly as ever.

Few short days later a meeting was held in top secret location but the room itself where it was held looked comfortable. It had chairs with small tables next to them for glasses or small treats. There were few screen if someone wasn’t at the presence. Sun light came to the room but curtains were pulled to cover the view. All the people who had entered the room looked very well dressed and funded people from midaged till elderly. The youngest of the group seemed to be in his fourties at the best. Most of the people were male but there was one woman in the room.

“So, Fury had created the Avengers and they had started running already. Loki is currently held in the Stark tower and the scepter is nowhere to be found?” One of the men sitting on sofa glared at the man on the opposite side of the room. “The situation will be fixed. I have already send my assistant to find any information the matter and Fury is in our constant surveillance. We will find it soon.”

“What about the girl who were you suppose to surveillance as well? ___ ______, if I recall,” the woman asked coolly as she looked at her left at the man responsible for their department in S.H.I.E.L.D. The man got instantly grim. “We have things under control. She has been following our instructions –“ “-But according to our information she had joined Avengers as well. Does it fall under your so called ‘instructions’?” one of the men sneered at the man.

“We had issues with current events but we are regaining our control of the S.H.I.E.L.D,” the man tried to sound confident but his temper was getting through and watering the confidence of statements. “And what stops the girl from gift wrap information to her new co-workers? Captain America is among them,” one of them questioned and continued: “He would hunt us down to the end of the world if he knew where we were.”

The woman cleared her throat. “I think the most reasonable option would be to kill her just to be safe,” the woman said calmly like speaking off bank accounts. “The Winter soldier is not ready for battle,” easily the oldest man in the room spoke quietly. “We are currently working on his mind and I’m delighted to report that our reparts are almost complete.” “Good,” the woman said. “But I didn’t want this assignment for our top assassin quite yet. If Avengers see this as a murder, they will investigate the matter more closely and that we can’t afford. It must look like an accident.”

Everyone agreed to that, even the old grandfather in the room. “Mckinney, I think we can leave this matter to your capable hands,” the woman said and looked at the man who sneered before at the S.H.I.E.L.D repesentive. The man smirked in arrogance. “Absolutely,” the man said and continued: “Hail Hydra.”

The third chapter came up even faster. Wow. I must admit that even I'm surprised. I feel enjoyment with writing but so far I try to keep it in good levels so I don't overdo it. But I'm still very happy and proud myself. The writing block is slowly clearing out hopefully.

It was also fun to write about scenes and converstations Avengers would had to had before they would form up. And also... fans favorite detail that they all live together now like a happy family. Happy Bouncer
